Mansfield-Drive-In

Once upon a time, in the 1950’s in America there were thousands of drive-in movie theaters, now there are less than 400. There are three drive-ins left in Connecticut, among them, the Mansfield Drive-in in Tolland County which opened in 1954.  Michael Jungden came on board in 1974 as the ticket manager and then in 1991 he bought the place. He diversified the place to bring more people in year round by setting up a weekend flea market which turned out to be wildly popular. On a good summer night he says he might see up to 800 cars on his 40 acre plot of land, he says the key is too keep diversifying to stay relevant in a volatile movie business. He has three digital screen and two snack shops to accommodate his customers.
